Residential & Dementia CareKnowsley

A small home
with a big heart

Griffin House is a private, family-run care home on Shaw Lane, Prescot, home to twenty-six residents, where care is personal, the food is home-cooked and no two days are ever quite the same.

Welcome to Griffin House

A home is a feeling, not a grand building

Even the grandest palace cannot feel like home without a sense of safety, kindness and belonging. What matters most is knowing that someone listens, that your wishes matter and that you are cared for with warmth, dignity and love.

Griffin House is a small home for twenty-six people, in a building with nearly half a century behind it. We care for it thoughtfully, keeping it in good repair and bringing beauty to it wherever we can. We do not measure our home by grand décor, but by the care and human connection within its walls.

There are quiet places to sit, familiar things to enjoy and time for an unhurried conversation. Sometimes the most meaningful care is simply being beside someone, with no rush and nowhere else you need to be.

"The person leads. We follow."

Our Care

High-quality care, tailored to each person

The person leads their care and we follow. We take time to understand their story, listen to their wishes and respect the routines and choices that make life their own. We offer support where it is needed, working with the person, their family, GPs and district nurses. Griffin House is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

Residential Care

Round-the-clock personal care in a warm, homely setting, supporting independence while being there whenever we're needed.

Dementia Care

Specialist, patient and kind dementia support. We take time to know each person's story, routines and the little things that matter.

A Home of Just 26

Small enough that every resident is known by name, every preference remembered, and every family welcomed like our own.

Life at Griffin House

Full days, warmly spent

There is room here for both company and quiet. Creative engagement is woven into every day, with visiting entertainers and time for individual connection. Whether someone wants to join in or simply sit peacefully, their choice matters.

Creative Engagement

Meaningful moments. Beautiful connections.

Creative engagement is the art of meaningful connection with each person. Music, painting, flower arranging, baking, memory work and gentle sensory moments are shaped around their interests and wishes.

These quiet, beautiful interactions bring calm, joy and a sense of self. For someone living with dementia, a familiar song or a shared moment can be a precious way to feel understood and connected.

Your own space

Your room, your colours, your choice

Moving into care should not mean leaving your individuality behind. Bedrooms are chosen with the person moving in, with colours tailored to their taste, not ours. It is their own space, shaped around what feels comfortable and familiar to them.

That same principle runs through our care. We do not ask people to fit around us. We listen, learn what matters to them and follow their lead, so that they can continue to feel like themselves.

Dining

Home-made, every single day

Good food is at the heart of Griffin House. Our kitchen prepares fresh, home-cooked meals every day, from proper roast dinners to homemade soups, baking and puddings, with menus shaped by what our residents actually love to eat.

  • Choice at every meal, with favourites always available
  • Snacks, drinks and homemade cake throughout the day
  • Special diets, soft options and fortified menus catered for
  • Birthdays and occasions celebrated with something special
